If you are looking to improve your inventory and tracking system. Use 2D or 3D barcodes as they use the same basic principle as a linear barcode, 3D barcodes hold more information.

A QR code is a type of two-dimensional (2D) barcode, read using a QR barcode reader or camera-enabled smartphone with QR reader software. A QR code is able to carry information in both the vertical and the horizontal direction, which is why it is called a 2D barcode.

Alternative to bar code labels is a Data Matrix Code label, arranged in a square shape, it consists of black printed block in a two-dimensional (2D) code. As more data is encoded in the symbol, the number of blocks (rows and columns) increases. An entire Data Matrix symbol can store up to 2,335 alphanumeric characters. The alphanumeric data of Data Matrix codes identifies details of the component on which it is placed, including manufacturer ID, part number and a unique serial number.

A QR Code label is another type of 2D code that consists of black blocks arranged in a square pattern on a white background. The information encoded can be made up of any kind of data such as binary or alphanumeric.

Thermal Transfer Labels

Thermal labels unlike direct thermal labels require a printer ribbon to print onto the label, as a paper label isn’t coated at source of manufacture, with the cost of ribbon and the time to change a ribbon in a thermal printer, this application is best suited for high end barcode quality or special labelling. Materials like polyethylene labels (PE labels) or Polypropylene Label (PP labels) are suitable for clear labels, long term or outdoor use, the material can be a tear resistant label, water resistant label perfect if you require a scratch resistance label also.

Direct Thermal Labels

Known also as direct thermal labels, these labels are normally paper labels, printed using industrial thermal printers. Direct thermal labels do not need a ribbon so are a quick cost effective way of printing bar code, shipping and courier labels. Normally sold as two grades, economy or top coated labels, the difference being top coated in theory should preserve the print head of the thermal printer, using a top grade dust free label paper and the quality of the bar code under an eye glass is slightly better. Top coated labels distribute the heat from a direct thermal printer better than standard direct thermal economy label, however the industry tends to use economy direct thermal material.

Top Coated Thermal Labels

Thermal labels unlike direct thermal labels require a printer ribbon to print onto the label, as a paper label isn’t coated at source of manufacture, with the cost of ribbon and the time to change a ribbon in a thermal printer, this application is best suited for high end barcode quality or special labelling. Materials like polyethylene labels (PE labels) or polypropylene labels (PP labels) are suitable for clear labels, long term or outdoor use, the material can be a tear resistant label, water resistant label perfect if you require a scratch resistance label also.

Thermal Transfer Labels

Thermal transfer labels are less expensive than direct thermal labels. However as direct thermal labels are printed using the heat element in a transfer printer, thermal transfer labels require a printer ribbon.

The benefits of usisng a printer ribbons is the iamge printed is opf a high quality and is scratch resistant. Prefect for long term storage and where the information printed on the label needs to be more durable.

  • Matt White Paper– thermal transfer paper labels with a matt finish, ideal for labelling of packaging boxes and pallets.
  • Semi Gloss Paper – thermal transfer paper labels with a medium gloss finish, ideal for general promotional and quality product labelling applications.
  • Polyester – Polyester (PE) films are suited to high quality long lasting applications requiring resistance to heat, water, oil and chemicals. Ideal for asset and serial labels, cosmetics, appliances, electrical equipment.
  • Polyethylene- Polyethylene (PE) films are resistant to water, oil and chemicals. Ideal for labelling test tubes, vials, chemical drums and products with a highly curved surface.
  • Polypropylene– Polypropylene (PP) films are resistant to water, oil and chemicals. Ideal as a long term solution to labelling packaging materials, patient and laboratory samples.

Tamperproof Labels

Our tamper evident security labels which are also known as Void labels, void stickers, asset labels, IT security labels and custom security labels use an easy tear design, clear usually transparent label material with strong adhesives. When applied and removed, fine security slits designed in the security label become evident when the label is removed or tampered with. Those broken fragments shows that the label has been removed and it is impossible to re-apply the label back to its original state, once removed a “VOID” message or “chequered” pattern is shown.

Pharmaceuticals using anti tampering labels can identify if the packaging has been opened or altered since manufacture, this solution is also viable for high value goods through the postal network.

For asset tracking, identification and data-driven applications, traditional Data Matrix Codes are generally the best choice versus a QR code. A Data Matrix Code can store large amounts of data for encoding, making them appropriate for a wide variety of applications given they are normally small in size

Tamper evident labels can also be manufactured using other security labelling methods like Hot foil, stock or custom, bespoke holographic images, numbered barcodes, security die cut face slits on various paper or tear resistant adhesive labels.

Tearproof Labels

Polyethylene labels (PE labels) or polypropylene labels (PP labels) along with a brand called Tyvek labels are materials that are extremely difficult to tear. Used for applications that require a long term hard wearing labelling solution. Ideal for outside applications as these tear proof labels are waterproof labels as well, printed either at the point of manufacture or using a wax resin ribbon through a thermal transfer printer. Popular thermal transfer printers are Zebra or Datamax

Hologram Labels

Tamper Evident Asset Labels

Destructible tamper void labels with instant visibility of an attempt to remove. Embedded with an additional hologram for extra security protection.

Holographic Labels also know and called hologram security labels

Integrated Labels

Integrated labels are a cost effect solution for e-commerce versus a laser label sheets. The reason is that a integrated label sheets unlike a laser label sheets is not fully coated with glue and a release liner backing. Integrated labels only have glue and the release liner in the area of the label. They can be printed using a standard laser printer, part of the A4 sheet is used as a picking note , invoice and despatch note.
